As we were sitting down for supper yesterday Sterling said that he wanted to ask the blessing. I have been working on this with him teaching him to repeat a simple prayer. I thought using simple childlike language would hopefully produce more heartfelt prayers instead of a rhyme. Not that there is anything wrong with teaching your child to pray a prayer that rhymes, but I decided just to teach him something like "Thank you Jesus for the ______" or even "Thank you Jesus for the yummy ____" I thought that he would need some prompting like usual, however he jumped right in with this:
"Dear Lord ... Jesus Christ ... Thank you for the food, the breakfast-the supper. Thank you for the beans and ... (pointing to his burrito) Eat Now. Amen"
