We finally got our adoption application off this afternoon. We've been praying about it and working on it for so long, it is good to finally get it off. Christmas time was not the best time to start working on something like that. ;)
Part of what took so long was that as we were filling out the financial portion we realized that we had no paperwork on our life insurance policy! As it turns out, we had no life insurance policy, they forgot to file it! (Actually stuff like this has been happening a lot lately, if any of you know the story of our heater and our gas getting turned off for a day this week, but that's a story for another day!) Thankfully we caught this now and not because of one of our deaths. So we got that straightened out, did the required physical and are all set.
We filled in that portion of our adoption application, finished up the doctrinal section and sent it off.
I want to be faithful to show God's provision during this process, because contrary to popular belief we do not have the finances for this adoption ;) I say that in jest, but it has been funny how many people have told us that they would be interested in adoption, but just don't have the money. I want to say "HELLO! My husband works for a church while in seminary, we have two kids already, and I stay at home!!" We are just trying to be faithful to what God is calling us to, even if we don't know how it will happen monetarily. Not to say we are any holier than those people who have that reaction. Quite the contrary! However, I guess I am just used to watching God provide for my family miraculously. He has done so in many ways for my parents when we were kids and has already done some crazy things for us, providing jobs and such just when we needed them. I know he can provide for this as well!
Anyway, Alex had been saving coins in a bank since he was about nine. He said he would always drop spare change in there and was hoping to one day fill the very large Coca-cola bank. That bank has made it through many moves, and I hate it because it is large and very heavy. And to top it off, we NEVER have change any more. We both use debit cards most of the time so we don't have pockets and purses to empty. I have been wanting to roll and deposit the change for a while, and I thought what better way to spend it then by bringing our child home! It was more than enough to pay for the application fee. I had already filled out the paperwork to renew my passport and change my name on it, but never sent it in. I thought I could use the left over for that. It is almost exactly what we needed for both!!

Wow! Thank you for taking time to share specifics of God's faithfulness so we can join in praising Him with you! I love how the Lord works.
I love thinking of nine-year-old Alex & first dropping coins in his bank . . . God knew. :)
