Heart Update

We went to the pediatric cardiologist today and found out that Ann Elizabeth has VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect).  Which in layman's terms is a hole in the heart.  Thankfully it is a tiny hole and not anything that will need any treatment or surgery.  Basically her heart allows some blood to flow from one ventricle to the other when it shouldn't.

The doctor wants to see her again in six months, but thinks that the hole will be completely gone by then.  We were reassured that it was nothing to worry about and of all heart problems this is the one to have.  Ironically, my sister, Tori, had the same thing when she was born, and they don't think that it is hereditary.  Her's was bigger and almost required surgery, but having grown up knowing someone who had the same issues made the diagnosis a lot easier to take.

Thanks for everyone's prayers, even though the murmur was a result of a problem, this is an easy one to deal with.

I think I have heard of this before. My sister had a hole in her lung that healed on its own when she was born. She will be fine! Glad it was something easy!
