I wanted to take a moment to show what Alex has been up to. If you want an update about how things are going at church, sorry this is not your post, maybe another day. But if I had to sum up in one word what Alex has been doing around here I would have to say fire.
If you know my husband at all you will know that he is a bit of a pyromaniac. Ok, that is a bit of an understatement! But in his defense he does get it honestly, all of the Vaughn boys love catching things on fire.
We have overgrown woods behind and beside our house and this fall Alex has been trying to clear them out. So what does he do with what he cuts down, why what any true pyro would do, burn it. We also had a stump right outside our door. After spending hours hacking at it with an axe and a chain saw, how did he finally get rid of it, by burning it of course.
Now if you are worried that our house may end up going up in smoke, know that he is an Eagle Scout and has been building fires since he could walk (that's probably not much of an exaggeration). He is always very safe and responsible.
But through all of that I know that he is really channeling his desire to have a fire inside. When we were looking for a house, Alex very much wanted a home with a fireplace. Of course! Well the one we purchased had a fireplace, but it had gas logs. To my husband, it might as well have no fireplace at all if it has gas logs, but thankfully the house has a real chimney so it could be converted.
Alex, has been talking and planning to convert it since day one, but as soon as it started getting cold he got really serious. We had a plumber come out the other day to attach the needed pipe and got a grate for the logs. Saturday it was all ready for a fire. So, as soon as Sterling's party was over, Alex had a fire going and has pretty much had one going ever since. Which I have to say with all of this cold weather, it has really been nice!
Notice all of those ashes and remember it has only been working since Saturday evening.
