Sterling is very into superheros right now, and Ann Elizabeth loves anything Disney princess. I know, starting early. Honestly, I know people have issues with the princesses, but I grew up loving anything Disney and had a very healthy view of womanhood, so I honestly don't really see what all of the fuss is about, especially with everything else that is marketed to little girls these days.
The kids had a blast. We just had a laid back party with their friends at the park. And the combined party worked out well since most of our friends have a kid Sterling AND Ann Elizabeth's age, and even the ones that don't, they are only a year up or down so they all play together anyway. We killed two birds with one stone for both us and them. It turned out really cute though.
The "boy's table." The cupcake toppers were a free printable I found on pinterest. Cereal boxes covered in black plastic for the buildings, "Captain America" Crunch (just the plain old Captain Crunch cereal although that would be a good marketing ploy) and "Pop" corn.
I found these cute babies on etsy for $3.50. You had to print and cut them out, but they were so cute. The cupcakes needed a tad more icing or glue the girls down slightly more. But I loved how the icing was the skirts. I also loved how the princesses were more age appropriate for a two year old.
I made the kids superhero masks and princess crowns, also found on pinterest, with patterns. I sewed them because that's how they did it online, My mom came to help me after these were all completed and said, "Why didn't you hot glue?" Don't say that now! So if I were to do this again I would try with at least one and see if that would work. It would certainly be faster.
Ann Elizabeth got these Fisher Price Little People for Christmas and some for her birthday. Like I said she loves anything Disney, and while she doesn't usually remember her colors, and can't count or say ABCs she does know the name of EVERY Disney princess. I have started trying to count princesses or talk about the colors of their dresses. And it could just be that she is at the age where she is finally getting it or it could be because she loves her princesses, but since I've been doing this it is starting to stick a little more.
She got this "Rella" dress for Christmas. I saw them (on Pinterest of course) and decided I could make them for less than the $70 that was being charged. Those little tube tops you can buy on etsy for about $5 or less. And then you just cut those rolls of tulle twice the length you want and fold in half, loop through the bottom loop and tie them on. we are not quite to the dress up stage (although we do the accessories - shoes, jewelry, purse - all day long) so this cute thing only lasted about three minutes.
All of the boys were clad in their superhero gear.
It got pretty windy so lighting candles was pretty hard.
She thinks she is big time with her new "car" from Nanie and Pop.
