Ann Elizabeth is growing so much! She says more and more everyday. Of course most of it can only be understood by Alex and I, but it is so sweet hearing her chatter. I know I've said it before, but Sterling really didn't do this. He went having about five words (maybe three, b/c everything was a ball for a while) to speaking in sentences. I know it wasn't really, but it felt like over night. I love listening to this baby babble. The best part of her chatter is her female animation. She has so many facial expressions when she talks and she has started moving her hands when she is talking to us about something too. She is speaking in some sentences, but the best is when she says maybe one sentence we can understand, and then goes on for about five minutes about something and we have no clue what she is saying. Alex and I just laugh, especially when these conversations are directed at Sterling. Toward him they usually sound like instructions; she is very mothering to him, even though he is older, it is so funny!
She loves telling him to eat at suppertime. I guess she hears that a lot. "Eat, Sterning, Eat" or "Stop that, Sterning" or she will just get this furrowed brow and go into that baby chatter that we don't understand. Thankfully he doesn't really notice or seem to care, but I have tried to stop laughing at her and telling her instead not to be bossy to Sterling.
Funny story about this morning. Ann Elizabeth woke up kind of early crying, which is highly abnormal. I checked on her to see what was wrong, which I still don't know what it was. Sterling walked out to go to the bathroom. It wasn't time for him to get up and we are working on getting him to stay in bed until it is time to get up, so I sent him back to bed, which upset him. He came in our room in what seemed like five minutes, but I guess it was closer to 25. Anyway, it was in fact time for him to get up and he was a bit confused as to what he was supposed to do. All that to say he was already a little upset when we started the morning. He asked me at some point in this back and forth if Ann Elizabeth was two. I told him yes.
When it was actually time to wake up he was sobbing. I thought it was something about having to go back to bed. It was that can't catch your breath kind of crying. I asked him what was wrong and through sobs he told me that he was sad because Ann Elizabeth was not a baby anymore. He kept saying I just want a baby sister. He wasn't making any sense really, but what I pieced together from what he said was he thought that she would magically change upon the morning of her second birthday from a baby into a big girl, which is funny because we already talk about how she isn't really a baby anymore. He thought she would be able to talk like him, he kept saying something about her having a new head, and at some point said something about a mustache.
I think he thought that now that she was two, she would be completely different. I think the "different head" was saying he thought she would look grown, maybe even like an adult. He kept saying that he wanted a baby sister, or another baby sister. I said, "Do you not want her anymore?" He said, "Yeah, I want her I just want to have a baby sister." Eventually he got it sorted out and when we all got good and awake and he saw that she was the same Ann Elizabeth as she was the day before he felt much better. I still wish I really knew what was going on in his mind, but I do think it is sorted out now. It was all I could do though to keep a straight face, because he was just so upset and yet it was so funny!
I'm pretty sure in this picture she is watching "Belle" or "Rella." As I said before, she loves, LOVES the Disney princesses. She asks for either "Belle" or "Rella" on a daily basis. If I don't hear or acknowledge her requests to "watch," she goes to the armoire and pulls out the heavy drawer that houses the DVDs, she has always been incredibly strong, and finds the face of the princess she wants to watch for the day.
She loves shoes, it doesn't matter whose they are. She is particularly fond of Sterling's boots.
She did get several pairs of shoes for her birthday. It is still really hard to find cute shoes in her size. Her feet have not really grown much in the last year. She is maybe a half of a size, maybe a size larger than she was this time last year. So the good news is her nice ones from last year will still fit for a little while. She can fit into some size 5 shoes, but one of the shoes she got today doesn't have a strap and they flap, a lot, but they were silver and sparkly so she loved them anyway! The plus size though is when I do find second hand shoes in her size they are usually hardly warn. I got some shoes at a consignment sale that probably retail about $40 for $7 I think. They have a little scuffing on the top, a teeniny bit, but the bottoms look like they weren't really worn. I'm thinking a little girl was wearing them before or right after she learned to walk and they might have been crawled in more than walked in.
Sterling picked out a "golf bag like his" and a baseball glove that she can play with while he has t'ball practice which we started Thursday.
Teeing off
They just happened to match today so I wanted to get a picture. I can never get a good one of them both smiling, so the fall back is always give each other a hug or kiss, and they usually turn out pretty cute.
Ann Elizabeth loves bubbles, it would be thirty degrees and she would want to blow bubbles! Not happening!!
Races in the driveway
See what I mean about the smiling together.
Ann Elizabeth decided to join in the races
She got this scooter from KiKi and KerKer for Christmas. I love when she has to wear her helmet, doesn't she look like that little mushroom kid on Super Mario.
We still had cupcakes from the party, but I hated to be lazy and use those again for the actual birthday. I was NOT going to make a birthday cake when we still have cupcakes, and it would end up that I would be the only one that would eat the rest of it anyway we decided to have ice cream and put her candles in that. She loves ice cream and everyone will help me devour it.
Happy Birthday Precious Girl!! We love you so much!!

She is SO pretty and SO sweet. I loved reading about all of her new accomplishments. She reminded me so much of Ella at that age. E totally did the start out with a few words you understand and then go off for several minutes with a lot of babble. James was actually like that, too, always so much to say,so passionately. Also, I never imagined they would like Disney princesses at such a young age! Ella was just like AE, getting up in the middle of the night to pull out "Mermaid."
