I feel so behind. There are so many things that I need to update, but I have little time and little motivation as of late. I feel like my whole life is so unorganized right now, my house, my thoughts, projects, and so many other things. But honestly when I have a few moments to catch up I really don't want to DO anything. I want to stop and relax, read, or rest. So, it is an endless cycle. An endless cycle that I hope to soon put a stop to. But it won't happen today. Maybe at least the anxiety of what I feel like is chaos will at least motivate me when I finally get to the point where I feel organized.
So, first things first! We celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary Friday. Last week and weekend was crazy for Alex, our actual anniversary was spent serving in a soup kitchen. Which was really fun. I especially enjoyed the teachable moments for Sterling about how we are supposed to be servants for others. He had fun entertaining some sweet grandmas, and of course Ann Elizabeth was passed around a bit.
We did get to celebrate the occasion the weekend before in Chattanooga. My mom and dad graciously kept the kids while we were able to escape for the night. I actually don't remember the last time we stayed at a hotel just the two of us. I think it was for a friend's wedding two weekends after our own. So that would be right at five years! We decided we were due an overnight stay somewhere. Since two of our friends were getting engaged on the 10th in Chattanooga and we were invited to celebrate with them afterward, we decided to spend the previous night at the Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel.
I feel like five years is not that long, yet so much has happened since 2006.
I was thinking, on Friday, how our anniversary is really the birth of our family, and I was thinking about all of the changes and transition we have been through in five short years. In the last five years I have been a kindergarten teacher, a children's director and now a mom. Alex started out managing our apartment complex and is now a youth director. We've lived in three different places in two towns. Alex has graduated college twice and is now working on a second master's degree. And most importantly we've become parents twice over. It has been such an adventure thus far, but the most exciting thing is the fact that it has really just begun!

This was such a beautiful post, Bethany. You're right - five years has, indeed, brought about so many changes.
Love you all and so glad that you and Alex were able to have an overnight getaway. You were definitely due one - hooray for grandparents! :)
And here's to the adventure!!
