Graduation Day

Yesterday we headed to The University of Alabama to watch Alex graduate.  This was actually the first college graduation I have been to in about 12 years.

Of course many of you know that this time three years ago as my classmates were walking across the stage I was putting on a wedding dress.  Much to my father's dismay the month of December proves to be a hard month in which to schedule a wedding so the only day we could get married was also my college graduation day.  Sorry Dad.

Alex chose to go to the beach instead of going to his undergraduate commencement.  Which, come to think of it was when we announced to our families that we were going to have Sterling.  I never thought about it but apparently we like to upstage our graduations.  (Hillary, my sister, will insert here that we upstaged her high school graduation by getting engaged, but just so you know that was almost two whole months before.)

Well, there is no news this time around, but did enjoy getting to celebrate his achievement.  I was so proud of both of my boys.  Alex, now has his Master's in Marketing and I am so proud of all of his hard work.  And Sterling sat quietly through the entire two hour plus ceremony.  Which I might add was during his morning nap, and he, unlike most babies, usually sleeps longer in the morning than the afternoon.  He was exhausted, but precious.  He actually fell asleep in my arms while we were waiting for the shuttle.  That is something he hasn't done in months!  You can tell in some of these pictures how hard he was trying to keep his eyes open.

Smiling at Sterling waving to him.  Well Sterling couldn't see him but we were telling him to wave to Daddy.

Moving his tassel.

Shaking Dr. Witt's hand.  And yes he was in New York later that day for the Heisman ceremony.  I think he apparated!  YEA Mark Ingram!!
BTW we got to see Javier Arenas graduate, too.

Future Alabama grad, but for now it's time for a nap!

And thanks Hillary for your encouraging and precious post about Alex.
