First of all let me say that our God is so good!
As you all know we are in the process of raising funds for our international adoption. Obviously!
Over memorial day weekend I was asking a friend how her new business was going. She was really encouraged by her success and briefly mentioned that becoming a partner would be a good fundraiser for our adoption. As her business was in direct sales, and I have never thought myself made for that kind of work, I immediately dismissed the idea. However, it didn't take long for my mind to continue thinking about what she said. I guess it was part mother hen ready to get all of her chicks in one coop. ;)
I had been praying for God to provide something for me to contribute to our adoption fund, be it his will of course. I didn't want something that would require too much time and space as I have two children to tend to and we have very limited space in our house. I also prayed that maybe this thing, whatever it was, that I would use to contribute to funding our adoption could even possibly carry over to help in raising our children. Honestly, this prayer was almost subconscious, it was one of those things that you catch yourself thinking and praying about, not something that you've really added to your prayer list.
Could partnering with my friend be what I was looking for? Alex and I prayed about it and I quickly jumped in. Alex was very excited about the prospect from the beginning, and we both said that if I didn't end up liking it I could always stay in it long enough to gain back my initial investment, which was reasonable. However, the more I talked to my friend and her team the more excited I became.
The things that attracted me were that even though the company only a few years old, the products are created by two dermatologists who are recognized the world over for creating an effective skin regimen for acne. A skin regimen that my own sister claims has not been effectively reproduced, Proactive Solution. So I'd be a pioneer in a company that already has international name recognition and respect.
With the name of doctors Katie Rodan and Kathy Fields I knew the product would not only get instant name recognition, but would be high quality products that really work. I wanted something that I could present to people and would sell itself. That paired with the fact that it is a new company and the support system that I could tell I would receive from my team. I thought I would give it a shot.
I have to say I have been pleasantly surprised. I have had so much fun and it has really not been stressful. I love getting to work with friends, and people, especially women, are naturally attracted to skincare and anti-aging products. I mean, what woman doesn't like a good night cream?
It is so much easier to run a business when you have someone guiding and encouraging you every step of the way. I love that while my teammates encourage me, it is, at the end of the day, MY business and I can set my own goals.
Plus, I love the products! This is not salesman talk, this is coming from a girl who hardly ever washed my face! I am currently using the REVERSE line that reverses sun damage, and after a month my freckly face is almost completely even. I really try be good about using sunscreen. Ever since college though, my face gets very freckly during the summer, and it is very obvious without makeup. By about January it has faded somewhat, and then starts back up again about May. It is July and not only am I reversing the past damage, I am not getting any new damage! I haven't used foundation in weeks, and if I do use make up it is only a light mineral peptide powder. And the best part is my regimen doesn't dry out my face!
As I said, I usually skip the face washing step in my daily routine, because washing it everyday dries my skin out so much. I'd rather deal with the occasional blemish than constant dry, flaky skin. I've had no problems with the regimen and my skin has never felt so good! I've even had comments recently about my great skin tone, and that never happens to me during the summer!
