We have that child. That child that always seems to innocently say just the right thing to crack everyone up in the middle of church. You know the kid. That's our Sterling! As we have a children's sermon during our service where all of the children come down and listen to the children's director, there's an opportunity for him to make some comment every week. He doesn't take advantage of it every week, but from time to time he makes us laugh.
However, sometimes he will come out with something pretty sweet, a few weeks ago during Spring break, was the best yet. Alex was filling in for the children's sermon. Sterling wiggled his way to the front and sat right beside his daddy facing out so we could all see him. I can't remember at all what the lesson was about, but Alex asked, "Why do we eat?" Sterling looked up at his Daddy with those big brown eyes and said, "So we can grow big and strong like you, Daddy!" Wow, that just melts your heart.
Speaking of words, our little bit is saying a little more these days. In addition to what she has been saying she now says "hey" and bye-bye" her current favorites. We went to the store yesterday and she was constantly waving and saying "hey hey hey" "bye-bye". She also tries to mimic just about anything you say. If she can't get the syllables right she will at least try to copy your tone. Today she was trying to say peek-a-boo, her favorite game. It came out more like "ba-ba-boo" but she was so proud of herself! She is doing the whole made up language thing, which I don't really remember Sterling doing. I LOVE listening to her sit on the floor and play while talking to herself.
