I've mentioned my new hobby, pinterest.com. I saw this really cool piece of art that was going for $70. I loved it but knew I could make it for under $10.
All you need is a piece of foam board and a box of crayons. I got a 20x30 size poster so I got the big box of crayons. It was also tax free weekend when I bought them, so no tax, score! You also need a hot glue gun and a hair dryer.
Separate the colors, don't worry about the wrappings, they will take on the color of the wax. You could also take the wrappers off for a different look, but I liked the recognizable Crayola wrappers.
Take out any colors you don't want to use.
Line up the crayons and make sure they will all fit and they are lined how you want them.
Use a hot glue gun to attach crayons to foam board. I used my "cool" glue gun not that it isn't hot too, but I thought it would be better than using the hot one. If you don't have one they sell them at Hobby Lobby for maybe 2 or 3 dollars . I also used a pencil to trace the frame so that I didn't put them too far up on the board.
Make sure you use a diffuser on your hair dryer. It takes longer, but gives you more control. I learned this the hard way, and decided to start over! If you don't the dryer will splatter the wax all across the board. Also the heat will bow the foam a little, but give it a few days of lying flat and it will flatten.
Find a poster frame at Walmart or somewhere. I spray painted mine to match Sterling's room.
Now you have one cool piece of art.
