Sterling is growing SO fast. It is amazing what all he is aware of! (I know that ended in a preposition but I don't care) He will just pick up on little things, and then spit them back out weeks later. Hopefully his love for learning will continue into his school years and throughout his life, because right now it seems like he is happiest when he is doing something "educational".
He still loves balls, and is now learning the distinction between a "bataball", "baeball", "football", and "socca ball", the later of the two being his favorite. He also LOVES to count. Maybe if we taught him an eccentric laugh he could get a role on Sesame Street. He counts everything, sometimes I even hear him in his room counting during naptime. I could kid myself into thinking he is counting sheep or something to help him go to sleep, but the jumping and kicking around convinces me otherwise. He can count to 10, and sometimes adds eleven and sixteen.

He has also recently learned his colors. And apparently he is a bit obsessive. He has been arranging his bath toys to look like a circus for a few months now. Alex apparently did it once and he does it almost every day now. Anyway, I walked in on them the other day and now he has chosen to arrange them by color too.
His favorite books right now are Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, Chicka Chicka 123, Hand Hand Fingers Thumb, and Panda Bear Panda Bear What Do You See? He loves to play with his stuffed animals, and I think his attachment to his paci and "bankie" (that's what he calls it, not us) has increased greatly over the past few months.
He is starting to say some really funny things. He says "Yummy Tummy" that I think he learned from Nanie. I told him to tell Daddy "See Ya Later." He responded "See Ya Later Alligator," I think he learned that one from KiKi. Today the neighbors cat roamed into our yard, that we actually got to enjoy today because of the lovely weather. It is black and white, and Sterling immediately said "Panda Bear." The cat wouldn't leave him alone while he was playing baseball, so he looked at me and said, "Bonk him on the head?" I told him that we couldn't bonk the cat on the head with his bat, but I couldn't help having a good laugh over that one!
He has also picked up on some of our Southern slang and combines words like: peanut butter and jelly - which he can say - usually becomes "pandeddy" (that took a while to decipher), come here is "cummere", I wish I could think of some more because some of them are really funny but no more are coming to me.
His favorite things to eat right now are oatmeal and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, without crust. What is the deal with kids and crust anyway? I have never cut his crust off before, and he has never seen anyone else eat a sandwich without crust. Somehow, like all kids, he has learned that he doesn't like it.
He is a bit obsessed with pillows right now, too. I took the pillows off of the couch one day so that we could watch a movie on the floor. He now wants to pull the pillows off every day.
Our little boy is becoming so grown up! I love being here to watch it all.

Those are GORGEOUS pictures, Bethany! I love the one of the two of you and the one of him looking very mischievous with his stuffed animals. I remember Ella got really attached to the paci about that age, too. Formerly, she had just used it to go to sleep. I think it had something to do with the fact that she knew what to do with it, so when she saw one around the house she would pick it up and put it in her mouth. What fun days!
Lynn, that's exactly what he's been doing. We had gotten to where he just wanted it in bed, then all of a sudden he wants it all of the time. I don't really care so much because I know when the time comes, giving up a paci will be a lot easier than giving up a thumb, so I just let him use it whenever.
This is wonderful, Bethany! Sterling is so precious, so handsome, and such a smartie! Thank you for sharing with us these awesome photos and updates on your little guy. What a beautiful mother Sterling has, and I know that Alex is having a blast with his big boy. Wish we could be around you guys more. Maybe one day . . .
Great photos of a wonderful great grandson. I love seeing how he is growing. So many of the things he is now doing remind me of you when you were that age. You and Alex are such great parents and I know that Sterling will be a wonderful big brother. Love to all of you.
