Sterling Update

Sterling is growing so quickly! I have noticed in the last week or two some really big changes while playing with him. His motor skills have kicked up a notch for sure! He has moved from the spastic and crazy banging hands on everything. To looking at a certain toy, picking it up, and studying it. It is so entertaining to watch him play now!

He is usually very content to sit on his pallet and play for 45 mins or an hour with one of his toys. This helps Mommy get things done around the house!

We are trying not to do a lot of the new light up/sing and dance/jiggle around toys. Well, because one they drive me crazy after a while and two I want him to have to develop his imagination. He has some toys that do some of those things, but his favorites are the old-school ones. He loves his new shape sorter (thanks KiKi), he also loves playing with his stacking rings, balls, and he LOVES his bouncer/exersaucer. But his favorite "toy" is Daddy!

Sterling obviously loves to eat as well. He gets so excited when I put him in his high chair. And it seams that I can't shovel the food in fast enough. And he is quickly growing out of all of his clothes. By looking at him one would think that they are getting tight around the middle (which is true in some cases). But he is getting so long that he pretty much skipped nine month clothing. We are now between nine and twelve months! (I still squeeze him into some of his really cute outfits though.)

He weighs about 22lbs. and is about 30 inches long. That's just home measuring, nothing official.

He is also still sleeping very well. He usually sleeps about 12 hours at night! In the last month or two I have started to notice that he wakes up several times during the night. We just leave him in his bed and he puts himself back to sleep.

Sterling just got his fifth tooth this morning and the sixth will probably be through before the weekend is up.

He loves music. Baby einstein and praise baby mezmorize him. He also loves Disney movies with a lot of singing. Jungle Book is probably his favorite! Sometimes we just play the movies on the sing-along feature and Sterling will dance until he is pooped!

We bought a piano off of ebay for a steal right before Sterling was born. We hope that all of our children will grow up to love playing music! Sterling is definately on his way. He loves to sit in Mommy or Daddy's lap and bang away at the keys! He is used to Daddy (the musician of the family) playing along with him as he is trying to re-learn to play.

I noticed last week when I was letting him play the piano with me, that he kept looking back at me and grabbing my arm. He has become much better at communicating what he wants, and I could tell that this meant, play with me Mommy. So, I concieded and thought instead of just banging along with him, I might as well brush up on my music reading skills as well and try to learn to play too. Sterling and I have had lots of piano fun together!

He loves giving kisses and is starting to wave (kind of). He is such a happy baby and such a joy to both of us. I can't believe that our little boy will be 8 months in just a few weeks. WE LOVE YOU STERLING!
