We had a check due for our next payment and we were a little over halfway to the amount we needed. I began to pray that God would provide that amount. About a week later my grandfather sent us a check with the exact amount we needed! He gives the grandchildren all a very generous monetary baby gift and felt led to give ours to us early. Wow! It was just what we needed!
God has been teaching me so much about prayer through this experience and coincidentally through the book I have talked about before that we studied this semester in our small group. I certainly feel the burden to pray continually through this process deepened as we go along.
Another way we have been truly blessed and have already reached our next goal, all be it a smaller goal, has been through my painting. I have stayed pretty busy with orders and yet not been overwhelmed. It seems that when one order is completed another one soon comes along.
I must give God credit for the art venture. I truly don't know where the painting comes from, it just comes out. Honestly, my family makes fun of me and say I woke up and decided to paint, and that is sort of how it happened. But it is truly something God given and not something I worked for.
I took a few art summer camps because one of my friends as a child's mom's was an art teacher. I must say I thought of myself as a great art student. I have very small confidence in my ability and find myself wishing I had known I would be in this place all along, I certainly would have taken classes to become trained and well studied. I look back and remember art history being one of my favorite classes in college and I gladly visited an art museum an hour away for extra credit, but I assume God didn't let me in on that piece of info to keep me humble and to give Him the glory. He certainly deserves it all! I am humbled that he would use something that gives me such great enjoyment to bring this child home.
On that note, I spent the week with my sister in Nashville. She and her roommate, my best friend growing up, invited their friends over to paint our version of Monet's St. Georges Majeur. I did classes for two nights and accidentally deleted pictures from the first night. But here are some from round 2.
They all did such a great job.
If you would like to host a party let me know. I would love to come teach a class for you and your friends. With eight guests the host paints for free. I will travel as long as it is financially feasible. I provide the supplies and can bring tables if needed! This was the most fundraiser I've done so far!!

So cool! I loved reading this. I am going to order a painting from you just as soon as we recover from maternity leave. Excited to see what else God does during this process!
