We started solids last week which seems to make her sleep more soundly at night. I know doctors would argue with me but we went from waking up between two and five times needing a paci to not at all! I have been a bit frustrated because Sterling was doing this at 4 months, but I realized last night that he started solids at four months. Coincidence, maybe? Anyway, I have a bunch of fruit and veggies ready to be pureed into baby food. The only question is when to find the time.
Her sweet smile is now dotted with two bottom teeth, and I'm pretty sure her eyes are going to stay blue.
At our visit to the doctor, Ann Elizabeth came in at 16lbs 10oz and 26 1/2" which is the 58th percentile and the 71st percentile. The pediatrician said that she couldn't hear the heart murmur. Hopefully this will be confirmed at the cardiologist in a few months!
Sterling is 2 going on 20.
He had to get a flu shot at Ann Elizabeth's appointment which I had not prepared him for, actually I did the opposite and said he would not have to get one. Tip: don't do that when you are approaching flu season. We forgot about them last year, so I wasn't even thinking about flu shots. But he was brave and took it like a champ. There was some squirming when the needle when in, but then he whined a little, "Ow, that hurt me." Then he was done!
He is still great with Ann Elizabeth and very helpful with her. He loves to fetch her paci or wipes, or whatever I need for her. He really wants to help feed her, but I don't think she is good enough with the spoon for that yet.
It is amazing what that kid remembers. If he hears something once he remembers it forever, I hope that is always the case for him. What a helpful skill in life. Of course he turns this into selective memory sometimes, not necessarily remembering the things most important for him to remember. He is also very inquisitive asking great questions about everything.
He uses phrases he has heard us say or has heard from his favorite television shows, I hear all kinds of things come out of his mouth that just make me laugh. My favorite right now is, "Mom, I have to tell you something." This is said in a very serious voice as if he is about to drop some horrible news on me, there is never something pressing he wants to tell me so he just makes up something silly and we both laugh.
I have started working on some pre-school stuff with him. Which I will discuss later. He also loves outside. Now that the weather has been nice, he has been enjoying the outdoors much more often. Playing sidewalk chalk and swinging in his new big boy swing are among his favorites. He runs everywhere and has a switch that turns on about 6:00 pm which causes him to run in circles around the house which is quite funny :)

Precious and beautiful pictures, Bethany! I was just thinking this week that I can't believe how quickly the time has gone since Ann Elizabeth was born. It's not fair how quickly they grow. And all of Sterling's almost 3 activities remind me of Ella so much and make me want to cry that those days are gone. :( I'm trying to enjoy the moment. :) Have fun with those precious children.
I agree, the pictures are - as always - beautifully precious. I love AE's bottom teeth & her blue eyes. What a big girl to be sitting alone & eating solids. Sterling is SO adorable, and I'd love to be a fly on the wall during some of those conversations. (and I'd love to join in the laughter!)
Oh, and praise the Lord for no sound of the heart murmur. I'll be interested in the upcoming doc report, as well as the preschool activities you're doing with your boy :)
love from all of the Kizziahs :)
