A Week of Firsts

This week Sterling will be four months, and this week has been (and will be) marked by many firsts. He is moving into his first house. Took his first trip to the lake to see Grammy and Daddy Jim. He has had his first real illness, the poor thing has had a cold and while he can't breathe out of his nose very well, he has been such a trooper. We are taking his first trip to the beach. And yesterday he his first tooth broke the skin. I was not expecting this one at all. I knew he had been teething, but I also knew that process could go on for months. KiKi has been in Southside all week as his nanny while I have been trying to paint and get things ready to move into our house. She felt a bump on his gums a few days ago, but said that teeth will sometimes come up and then go back down before they break skin. I figured this would be the case since he is only three months. Yesterday, we were all looking at his gums and saw the tooth just under the skin. I felt it last night and this morning and there is a hard, sharp, little tooth on the surface of his gums. Sterling has been so good even though he has been cutting a tooth on top of having a cold. I feel so sorry for him. I know he is miserable, while he has been fussy at times, he is normally his usual cheerful self.
